Back again. After our first run down memory lane was so well received I will continue our journey with another instalment.

It was another two years before we would set off again.  This time we had decided to do a river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam, starting off with a couple of days in Prague and then finishing with a few days on the Spanish Costa del Sol.

Departure 10 Sept 2011
We have a 9.30 pm flight from Tullamarine to Prague for our Scenic river cruise plus Spanish adventure. The airport is pretty quiet and everything goes smoothly.  It is a 12.5 hour flight to Dubai and then a 4.5 hour wait in Dubai. Our plane seems relatively new and is quite comfortable. We arrive in Dubai at 5.30 am to 37 degree temperature. We wander around the airport eager to get going again. We leave Dubai 50 mins late, sitting on the tarmac for 30 mins waiting for our turn to take off. It is a very busy airport. Flight to Prague was 5.5 hours  and  we meet the pick up and are on our way by 4 pm. It has been 31 hours since we picked up Ross and Karen, so we are all feeling it. Prague looks like a lovely city with plenty of open spaces, Had a 6 pm briefing, walk around the hotel area  which is beautiful,   order room service and then crash.

Day 1 Monday 12 Sept 2011
Great nights sleep, feeling well refreshed. Breakfast at 7.15 and then off on a bus trip to Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral. We proceed through the old town  and are dropped off at the top of the Prague Castle. We then make our way down cobbled streets to the cathedral.  We then walk across the palace courtyard to the Little Quarter over the Charles Bridge.  After coffee and cake we continue through the old town until we reach the Astronomical clock.  There are some very narrow lane ways and one is so narrow there is a pedestrian light regulating one way at a time! We then have free time to wander around the square and check out all the shops.  We pick up a few beers on the way back for beer o'clock and then watch a replay of Sam Stosur defeating Serena Williams in the US Open. Have a lovely dinner at a restaurant in Wenceslas Square and collapse into bed at 10 pm.

Two years of planning Nd of course lots of get together to plan!
Wooohooo! We’re off again.
Flight was okay, were all excited for this new adventure.
Arriving in Prague, we got our passports checked on leaving the plane and also looked at very hard at customs ( a bit different to Italy)
We also got a stamp in our passports.
Greeted by the military sporting AK47’s.
Passenger in wheelchair was searched.
Radisson Blue Prague is a beautiful art-decor hotel.
The city has some beautiful buildings, neat and clean.
Met Petr our guide, who is young, funny and passionate about the history of Prague.
John slept all afternoon and missed the meeting and orientation tour.
I had a text come in during the night and I did a Rosco!
Got up, had a shower and then looked at the time.
Back to bed.
After brekky, went to Prague Castle and watched the parade of the guards.
Visited St Vitas Cathedral, which is a huge black gothic cathedral. It is stunning.
Coffee on the terrace of Loschowicz Palace with views over Prague and the Vlata river.
Saw one way pedestrian lane with traffic light.
Went to Old Town and were ‘spruked’ to go upstairs for lunch in the Grand Praha Hotel.
Good move - it was right across from the Astronomical Clock, so we had sandwiches and cold beer as we watched the clock in motion.
We were warned about pickpockets targeting tourists around the clock, one of our fellow passengers fell victim.
Dinner was in a modern restaurant “Como”, where staff were very attentive.
Tomorrow we are up early to view Charles Bridge without the crowds.
