Day 5 - Friday
16 Sept Cruising the Danube 26 degrees
Great nights sleep and wake up at 7 am. Went up on deck early to watch as we went through our first lock. Cruised the
Danube all day with lovely sunny weather. We go through another lock around
4.30 – sixty more to go. Tonight we have a Viennese concert at Liechtenstein
Palace, including a glass of Austrian "Sekt". The 9 piece orchestra was great playing Strauss and Mozart. We had a soprano and a baritone
singing opera, ballet dancers and dancing to the Blue Danube Waltz. Very
enjoyable. We have an early start tomorrow as we are going to the Schonbrunn
Palace, the former summer palace of the Hapsburgs. Tonight we also had our first towel surprise!

We are both loving the memories. Thanks costolotta director. X
Going through our first lock was really interesting, I’m sure the novelty will wear off once we get to our last one.
A leisurely day today as we sail along the Danube, spotting little fishing shacks and heaps of Winnebagos. (One guide told us later in the tour that they are the “cheese heads”)
Had a briefing on the choices of tours today and we selected what we thought we would like.
We are starting to warm to our Cruise Director Yvonne.
This evening we had a recital at Lichtenstein Palace, which is opulently decorated and the widest marble stairs I had ever seen.
Music, vocalists and dancers were all talented artists, we enjoyed the performance.
Back to our floating hotel for a nightcap.
